We are pleased to announce that Susie Woodstock will be joining HdL as Principal in the Client Services team following the Labor Day holiday.
Susie has a diverse background in both her education and career. She has been a municipal executive for more than 25 years, with experience in finance, accounting, engineering and public works. Most recently Susie was the Administrative Services Director at the City of Newark where she oversaw accounting, IT, waste management and recycling. With Professional Engineer Certifications in the states of California and Washington, she was also the Public Works Maintenance Superintendent at the City of Newark, a development engineer at the City of Fremont and a bridge engineer in Spokane, Washington. Susie is also a member of the California Society Municipal of Financial Officers (CSMFO) and Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Susie has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from California State University, Chico. As she progressed in her career she became interested in leadership and management training and obtained a second bachelor’s degree from Whitworth University in Organizational Management. Susie enjoyed testing the leadership and management theories on the bridge crew she was supervising at the time. While learning to weld and scuba dive to inspect and repair bridges, she became a certified welder and bridge inspector in the State of Washington.
Using her engineering education Susie has designed city streets and freeway ramps for accessing the San Francisco Airport, and rebuilt bridges. She was a Transportation Engineer at the California Department of Transportation and taught AutoCad at the College of San Mateo.
